Is Smriti free?

Yes — the core of Smriti is free for everyone, with or without an account. You get every UPPSC GS previous-year question, all its options, the correct answer, and your own progress tracking and answer history. Smriti Pro adds the teaching layer: the option-by-option explanation for every wrong answer, the Insights dashboard, the study planner, and the spaced-repetition review queue. Pro is one plan, one payment, no auto-renewal.

Is there a daily question limit?

Deep explanations and Revise share a limit of 120 new questions per account each India-time day. A question counts the first time you open it. Opening it again within 90 days, on the same day or a later one, does not count again. The allowance resets at midnight India time. Browsing the public question bank and core explanations does not use this allowance.

Which exam does Smriti cover?

UPPSC General Studies — also written UPPCS — the Uttar Pradesh PCS (Provincial Civil Services) Preliminary and Main examinations. The library holds the full GS previous-year corpus across 296 topics, built from official papers spanning 1990 to 2024. It does not cover optional subjects, CSAT practice drills, or other state PSCs yet.

Is UPPCS the same as UPPSC?

Yes. UPPSC (Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission) is the body that conducts the exam; UPPCS (Uttar Pradesh Provincial Civil Services) is the exam itself — aspirants use both names for the same thing, and so does everyone searching for practice material. Where do the questions come from?

Every question is taken from an actual UPPSC GS paper — Prelims and the Mains General Studies papers. We do not invent questions. Each one is then enriched into a micro-lesson: option-by-option analysis of why the right answer is right and the others are wrong, reverse questions, key facts, and the concepts the examiner was really testing.

How does spaced repetition work here?

The review queue is self-paced — it runs on your own answers, not a fixed calendar. After you answer, Smriti auto-schedules that question for review at the moment you are about to forget it, using the FSRS algorithm. Correct answers get pushed further out; mistakes come back sooner. This turns one-time solving into durable memory — the difference between “I got it once” and “I actually know it on exam day.” The review queue is part of Pro.

I keep getting questions wrong — is that a problem?

No — that's the most useful signal Smriti gets. A wrong answer means the option-by-option explanation is right there, next to the question, so you don't have to go hunting through ten browser tabs, a coaching PDF, or a WhatsApp group hoping someone explains why an option is wrong. Mistakes are also what the review queue prioritises: a question you got wrong comes back sooner, one you got right and felt confident about drifts further out. Getting it wrong here, early and often, is how you make sure you get it right when it counts.

How is this different from downloading a PYQ PDF or buying a test series?

Most PYQ resources give you the questions; very few teach from them. The dominant model in the market today is a downloadable PDF of solved papers, or a test-series app where PYQs are a small slice of a much larger mock-test library. Both deliver the questions and stop at the answer key. Smriti starts where those stop. Every question is a self-contained lesson, your wrong answers are explained option by option, your mistakes are automatically grouped into patterns, and the whole corpus is scheduled back to you as retrieval practice, at your own pace. A PDF tells you what you got wrong. Smriti shows you why, and then makes sure you remember it.

Do I need to create an account?

No. You can open any question and start studying immediately. Progress is saved in your browser, so it works without sign-in. Signing in with Google simply lets your progress, plan, and review schedule follow you across devices — it is optional and we never receive your Google password.

Does Smriti replace coaching or a mock-test series?

Accepted Answer

No, and we do not claim it does. Smriti is a focused tool for learning from the PYQ corpus — the single highest-yield resource most aspirants under-use. It is not live classes, not mentorship, and not a full-length exam simulator. Many users pair it with a test series for timed practice. We sell a better way to study the questions that actually appear; we do not sell a guarantee of a result.

Will Smriti add other exams or courses?

UPPSC GS is the starting point, not the ceiling — it is one of the most under-served PYQ corpuses relative to how many aspirants sit the exam every year. The engine underneath (spaced repetition, mistake analysis, the study planner) is not specific to this exam, and the site's URL structure is deliberately built so a new exam or course can be added under its own path without reworking anything that already exists. Nothing beyond UPPSC GS is committed yet — but if this works well for the aspirants using it, more exams are the natural next step.
